After the economic boom of the 1950’s and 1960’s and travel to other destinations gained popularity, Atlantic City was on the decline. Railroads in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and elsewhere made the beach town accessible and extremely popular. Atlantic City in the early part of the 1900s, was developed as a major resort. Most often the city is compared to its’ big sister Las Vegas or known as the “mini Vegas of the East Coast”. Atlantic City for the better part of the century is Mecca to fortune hunters, risk takers and card savants.
